Look at what I just finished knitting. These socks are absolutely scrumptious. The yarn I used is leftover tweed yarn from the cable sweater I knit for JRo last year. And is a bit itchy for socks.
The pattern is a little complicated to follow, especially with Brother Braveheart, and Captain Courageous sitting their furry buttocks on the pages as I knit.
Captain Courageous even got spooked one day and lept from the open magazine, over my knitting basket, and unto the floor. Ripping down the magazine page - almost from edge to edge. Thank goodness for matte Scotch tape. Which fixed that up. Nothing like a pattern that is well loved.
More photo's to come, as I still need to photograph the completed versions. This one is from the magazine.

Composite Wristwarmers
Ta Da.. aren't these lovelies, just beaudacious? I work in an office that is cold in the winter, spring, fall and summer. Imagine, the air conditioning required to make an office too cold in the summer. Shameful. Just reread that and realized I sound like an old lady.. I'm not... really...
These wonderful little beauties will be my wrist's best friends. The yarn was much thinner than was called for in the recipe.. so I had to improvise. I used the gauge pattern from Anne Budd's book of recipes.. and cast on 60 stitches, knit the garmet's according to the standard mitten recipe, but followed the fair isle charts from Interweave Holiday Edition 2007. Left the bobbles off on the ribbing, since the thin alpaca yarn was a bit hard to manage at that stage.
All in all - I LOVE THEM. And am getting many envious looks from my colleagues. I will have to knit versions that I don't love so much, so i can bear to give them away.
Balls of alpaca
Well really 4 balls of alpaca, and 2 balls of wool. The wool and alpaca are so fine, that after knitting the Tropical Vest I had almost full balls of every color left over. What to do, what to do?
Thank goodness for the Holiday 2008 edition of Interweave Knits.
I have a plan, think you can guess what it is?

Cable Sweater Flat
A shot of the arm.. it has this really lovely cable running all the way up to to where it joins to the shoulder
JRos Cable Sweater for 2007
The first of the two sweaters that were requested from the 'Men in Knits' book. The yarn we found was too light of a weight to make gauge. So I wound up purchasing twice the amount so I could double the yarn.
Knitting was fun, but it was my first try with cables. So I made some mistakes. I can easily tell the back from the front. In this picture you can tell where I made the mistakes.
JRo loves it, and tells everyone that I made it for him. But he also sweats bullets when he wears it.. its a very toasty sweater.

Lillian's Knee Socks
Well my sister in law loved her Neopolatan socks so much, that I decided to knit her a pair of knee socks for her birthday, in January. Her birthday came, and went, and I hadn't even started on the second sock. I'm figuring that they will keep until next christmas, if I don't claim them for my own.
Here are the photo's of the finished socks.
And a few detail shots of the texture and the rich dark colors

Cashmere Cotton Bunny Tails Hat
My freinds Paul and Mark were blessed with a little bundle of LOOOOVE this holiday season.
To celebrate at her baby shower, I knit up this adorable little hat by Susan B. Anderson from her book Adorable Little Knits.
It was a really fast knit, but I was in a bit of a hurry, and made one ear longer than the other. My theory is that asymmetry is nature's way.

Julian's 2008 Sweater
Jro picked out this great book called 'Men in Knits'. And specifically requested two sweaters in the book instantly. I've already knit one of them, in 2007. And now I just started on the second one.
We bought 20 balls of Alfa Green bulky weight yarn at 'Mary's Yarns' in Unionville in 2006. Its very light and fluffy, which will make a very light and soft sweater. Quite possibly I might finish this project with several balls left.
The pattern is fun and easy to learn. But I find the size of the needles a little bit hard to deal with. It's gonna be a quick knit. I've already knit up about 5 inches with one ball in the back panel. JRo is pretty excited to be seeing the sweater in progress.
